chess tournament
On Thursday, a group from NTMC Academy went to a chess tournament held by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). There were 94 students from 13 different schools participating. Rachel was the only girl from our school. Each student played 5 rounds. Some games only took a couple of minutes while others took up almost the entire 30 minutes allowed for each game.
Nine students represented NTMC Academy (3 from Elementary, 3 from Jr. High and 3 from Sr. high). We had a student tie for 3rd place in elementary and we took 3rd for both Jr. High and Sr. High as well. Each of our nine students won at least 1 game and 5 won 3 out of the five. Rachel did very well and had a good time. She was the top female student in Jr. High and desires to continue improving her chess skills. We had a great time and every one was encouraged with how well we did as a small school.
